Turn this Family-Friendly Off-Roader into Your Dream Machine
This FJ55 is a last-year production model with only three previous owners. When we inspected this Land Cruiser to see if it would make a good restoration candidate, we discovered that the body panels and mechanicals were in good condition, and rust was minimal. Toyota only produced 113,000 FJ55s, and finding one in this state, is incredibly rare.
This FJ55 has plenty of extra seating. Open the large, centrally split double rear door, and you’ll find a third row of side-facing benches. The two-tone paintwork in Capri Blue and White creates a striking contrast on the exterior, and under the hood, you’ll find the ever-reliable 2F engine.
The 1980 model year marks the end of a successful production run for the FJ55, a model that took the Land Cruiser into more passenger-friendly territory. The FJ55 was Toyota’s answer to the Jeep Wagoneer and its first true station wagon. Designed specifically for the U.S. and Australian markets, the FJ55 could take on the demands of high-speed freeways without sacrificing off-road capability.
